First off I'd just like to thank Pandora for giving me the ability to chose my own music it makes writing a whole hell of a lot easier than trying to use YouTube.
Today I was thinking about something that troubles me more often than it probably should and that is when, where, and in what context the word Beautiful should be used. I find the word to be one of those special words that are to only be used in certain situations. But I know that a lot of people don't see it that way. This will be further explaination on the defintion of that wonderful word.
Beautiful in the Webster dictionary is described as having qualities of beauty; exciting easthetic pleasure. So basically this definition is saying that anything that a person finds pleasing can be beautiful. So if a person finds a pile of garbage pleasing they could call it beautiful if you want to get technical. I find that using this definition in so many ways can confuse the fine line that has been placed on such a powerful word as this one.
My own personal definition of the word beautiful is complex compared to the dictionary's basic definition. In describing a person and their features it is such a fine line that takes two separate explainations. If your describing a certain feature as beautiful like maybe a smile or eyes that is fine as long as you use a defining word after the word itself. Like if someone walked up to me and said, "You know you have the most beautiful eyes I've seen in a long time." That is okay because the person said what they find beautiful about me. In describing a person with no features attatched is a whole different senerio and coming up with that conclusion make take a person months if not years to figure out what makes the whole person beautiful. You aren't just describing the outward appearance of the person but the inner part of the person too. Their thoughts, hopes , fears, desires, dreams, and soul. This is where the definition meets its complex description. So this is my advice to you when you want to call a person beautiful, think about my definition. Are you describing the whole or just a feature? If its a feature then by all means tell them it may bring a smile to their face and brighten up their day. But if you want to say it as the whole person, step back think about how well you know them and if you're ready to change their lives for a very long time because that is a word many people hold dear and take very personal.
Until Next Time
